The Cornell Note-Taking System
A systematic format for condensing and organizing notes. Divide the paper into three sections: Cues, Notes, and Summary.
During lecture, use the main notes column to record the lecture using telegraphic sentences.
As soon after as possible, formulate questions based on the notes in the cue column.
Cover the notes column and try to answer the questions in the cue column.
Reflect on the material by asking yourself questions like: "What's the significance?"
The Outline Method
Dash or indented outlining is best for well-organized lectures. It clearly shows the relationship between main ideas and supporting details.
- I. Main Topic
- A. Sub-point
