The 24th National Teaching Awards organised by the Free State Department of Education took place at the Bon Hotel in Bloemfontein on 16th August 2024. The event, which attracted approximately 250 participants, celebrated the theme of 'Empowering Educators, Strengthening Resilience, Building Sustainability'. The awards recognised exceptional educators across various categories, from primary and secondary school teaching to special needs education.
Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town, served as the guest speaker, and Free State Education MEC Dr Julia Maboya delivered a congratulatory address. Dr Maboya emphasised the importance of the awards in recognising and motivating teachers, thereby elevating educational standards in the province.

The Free State Department of Education celebrated the dedication of teachers at the 24th National Teaching Awards (NTA) held at the Bon Hotel in Bloemfontein on Friday, 16th August 2024. Around 250 attendees, including teachers, SGB members, senior government officials, teachers' unions, and private sector partners, gathered to honour the hard work and commitment of educators. The theme for this year was: Empowering Educators, Strengthening Resilience, Building Sustainability.
Former University of Cape Town Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, served as the guest speaker. Free State Education MEC, Dr Julia Maboya, extended heartfelt congratulations to the award recipients.
